Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about our out-of-home services

  • What is SSRC?

Specialised Substitute Residential Care (SSRC)  refers to a type of living arrangement where children and young people who can't live with their families are provided with a safe and supportive environment. This type of care is designed to cater to the specific needs of children and young people who require additional support and attention, and who may not be able to thrive in other types of living arrangements.

The specialised care is provided by trained professionals like the team at Your Support Healthcare who offer round-the-clock care, including therapy, education and medical services. The goal of specialised substitute residential care is to provide a stable and nurturing environment that promotes the development and well-being of the child or young person.

  • What is OOHC?

OOHC (Out of Home Care) refers to the range of services and supports provided to children and young people who are unable to live with their families due to abuse, neglect or other issues. OOHC services can include foster care, kinship care, residential care and other forms of supported accommodation. These services aim to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for children and young people in care, in order to support their physical, emotional, and educational needs.

The Australian government is responsible for providing funding and oversight for OOHC services, and works to ensure that children and young people receive the best possible care and support.
